The effects of flooding and wind from June and July are still being felt.\u00a0 \u00a0Even if we have faced similar difficulties before, even if we know our neighbours are facing the same challenges, it can feel overwhelming,.\u00a0 The timing can add to frustration, as people take time away from insurance and government assistance offices, and applications seem to hang in limbo.\u00a0 The feeling of “We are facing this all alone and nobody cares” can add to that heaviness of heart.<\/p>\n

But we are not alone.\u00a0 Or at least we don’t have to be.<\/p>\n

The blessing of small communities like Rosser and Grosse Isle is that we care about each other.\u00a0 We can stop and check-in with our neighbours when we go to the mail, or see if this a good time to show up with a rake or a bucket and mop or a rake or a lawnmower, or a truck for hauling away branches and refuse.\u00a0 It is connecting with one another that encourages us and our neighbours, that feeds the resilience\u00a0 we need to pick up and go forward.<\/p>\n

And going forward is what you do.\u00a0 Especially with the new school and activities year on the horizon.<\/p>\n

Part of the work of our church community is to be there for one another.\u00a0 Part of the minister’s job is to be there to listen and support, even if there nothing that can be done right now. We have no expectations of you, and you do not need to be part of the church family, or a donor, to make use of what we can offer;.<\/p>\n

Our minister, Heather Sandilands,<\/strong> is still new to these parts, so doesn’t know who might be looking for free, confidential, non-judgmental support; if that’s you, or you know someone else who might, please don’t hesitate to call, text or Message her. Her name is her handle and phone is 431-458-7134.<\/strong>\u00a0 Although we don’t gather for worship until September, we are still being church with and for our communities.<\/p>\n

And that is what all spiritual paths lead us to learn: we are not alone.\u00a0 We are always held in the power of Life and Love. All the time. In every place.\u00a0 And we learn that by approaching and asking for support; it is in our moments of feeling weakest that we can feel this power most profoundly.\u00a0 That is a blessing.<\/p>\n
